Residential Treatment

West Brook Resident Inpatient Apartments Grand Rapids Michigan Residential treatment includes individual and group counseling with a strong educational component including educational lectures, nutrition, yoga and spiritual components. We also feel that the entire family deserves the opportunity for healing through this process and dedicate one full day weekly to family therapy. Residential treatment is especially effective for those with more severe alcohol/drug problems. Individuals benefiting from such a highly structured program include those with chronic histories of addiction, frequent relapses, seriously impaired social functioning, and families in crisis, and deteriorating physical health. Additionally, highly defended medical and other professionals may require the residential level of care to effectively address entrenched and advanced defenses that impede effective treatment from this insidious disease.

Patients reside in the therapeutic community during their residential treatment with the typical length of stay being between 30 and 90 days, sometimes longer if needed. Community living allows clients to engage in daily chores and activities which is an important part of the recovery process. Clients live together in apartments and do their own shopping, cooking, and other activities. We do not believe that housing our patients under the roof of the treatment center allows them to experience the real world and work through the recovery process in a realistic environment. Our program is unlike "typical" treatment centers in the Midwest, we allow clients to engage in the real world living, developing coping skills and creating a support network that is conducive to recovery. We do however closely monitor the apartments and have staff members that reside in the same apartment community for support and accountability. The men's and women's apartments are separated by many miles and fraternizing is strictly prohibited. If you would like to learn more or have questions, we invite you to call and speak to one of our friendly staff members. We gratefully accept calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We look forward to speaking to you.
