Residential Addiction Treatment includes individual and group counseling with a strong educational component. It is especially effective for those with more severe alcohol/drug problems. Patients receiving addiction reside in the therapeutic community for three to four months. Residents benefit from a highly structured program including those with chronic histories of addiction, frequent relapses, seriously impaired social functioning, families in crisis, criminal involvement and deteriorating physical health. Additionally, highly defended medical and other professionals may require the residential level of care to effectively address entrenched and advanced defenses that impede effective addiction treatment from this insidious disease.
